O death, where is thy sting?

simplyorthodox:

O death, where is thy sting? O Hades, where is thy victory? Christ is risen, and you are overthrown! Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen! Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice! Christ is risen, and life reigns! Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in a tomb!

- From the Paschal Sermon of Saint John Chrysostom

msanthropologist:

This is an icon within the Jacob’s Well monastery in Nablus, Palestine that was painted by the current priest of the martyring of the last priest by a violent ideological Israeli settler.  It was hard to get a good shot because directly in front of it are the entombed remains of the priest. I’ve not found another photograph of it on the internet.

Seldom have I felt so moved standing in a man-made structure.  Once the site of incredible horror, it was somehow transformed into a place of unfathomable beauty. It’s full of light and breathtaking icons, tapestries, stained glass, and mosaics. And what’s more, the place somehow feels clean and holy.  I was told that the priest paints all of the icons himself (including the tiny ones for sale to tourists), makes all of the mosaics, and restored a byzantine era mosaic.  When I saw him he was wearing a blue jumpsuit with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth trimming an olive tree.

The rebuilding project was financed by Yasser Arafat.

Job 36:5 - God is mighty, but does not despise men;he is mighty, and firm in his purpose.

This church is an abomination to Christianity. They are the reason religion is hated.
The fact that they speak before they truly know anything about heavy music makes them ignorant.
Sovereign Strength, For Today, Take it back!, and others are a prime example as to why.

^^
This.
I swear the WBC need to pay more attention to the words of Christ than the words of their cult leader/ Grandfather.

I call Bull! These people are not Christians and someday they will realize their folly. Unfortunately it may be to late.  This actually reminded me of something which I will post in a bit.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE

This film gets me more than Titanic.

I was just thinking about when Jesus said this earlier this morning.
I was about to watch Mythbusters on this website that links you to recent episodes of whatever show you want to watch. When some person posted a comment along the lines of I don’t like this show anymore because of some hateful comment Adam Savage made towards people of faith.
As a person of faith, one would think this would upset me. Yet it’s not Adam’s supposed comments that upset me.  It’s this unknown person on the website.
Jesus taught us that just as the world hated him and the prophets (It was in yesterday’s gospel readings of the day)  People of this world would hate us.
The Lord also taught us to love everyone especially people who openly hate us.
So Mr. Unknown commenter, by erupting in anger over someone else’s hatred you are basically validating his/their opinion.
Meanwhile I still like and respect the people of Mythbusters whatever they may think or say about me or my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Ramblings of an average human.: The sermon from the Orthodox Church in America written by Fr. Alexander Schmemann for the Sunday of Orthodoxy. This is...

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Rejoicing today in the triumph of Orthodoxy on this first Sunday of Lent, we joyfully commemorate three events: one event belonging to the past; one event to the present; and one event which still belongs to the future.

Please read this: Misunderstandings about Rasputin

simplyorthodox:

Clearly, there are many misunderstandings about Rasputin.

Rasputin is NOT a Saint in Orthodoxy. The Orthodox Church never canonized him, as many of you support.

Patriarch of Moscow Alexey said about the rumors/requests of his canonizations: “This is madness! What believer would want to stay in a Church that equally venerates murderers and martyrs, lechers and saints?”

So, please, try to not spread things that are not true. Thank you.
